A wonderful and extremely human book

This original book tells the story of Kit, a lonely freelance translator, who has turned fifty and has decided that his life has not been what he wanted it to be. He hasn’t been able to translate beautiful or important works, he has never become a real musician and he hasn’t found real love either. He feels like a lonely old man, who is an alcoholic and stills thinks like a man in his twenties sometimes, yet he no longer shares the expectations and optimism of youngsters. He is afraid of death and feels unimportant in the universe. One day, he comes across the profile of a woman on the internet and becomes obsessed with her. She is young, beautiful and a professional dominatrix. He decides to meet her and tries to change his life by discovering his own sexuality, deepest fantasies and wishes. There are some BDSM scenes in the book but it’s more about universal values and struggles, fighting to overcome limits and be the person you want to be.
